About the Barney Covers

Is the cover waterproof?

No, our covers are not waterproof as we designed them to be as comfy and soft as possible and waterproof materials are not often comfy to the touch. We have, however, designed the covers to be super easy to remove and wash whenever needed. We created the Waterproof lining Kit which you can fit over the interior of your Barney Bed- just like your own mattress protector, which will fully protect your Barney Bed from water/pee accidents.

Are there any other colors?

The Barney Bed is sold in its original grey cover. We have a wide range of covers available in lots of different colors and materials. We often release new covers, so stay tuned on our website and socials!

I already have a bed. Do you sell just the covers?

Yes! Please choose the same size cover as your Original Barney Bed. Our covers are specifically designed to only fit the Barney Bed. You can check your bed size on the tag inside your cover or if you have any questions about the bed size you ordered, please send an email to online@barneybed.com and we’ll be happy to look up your order.

I fit my zip cover on my bed, why doesn’t look fitted like the photos online?

This is because your original gray cover needs to be fully removed, and the memory foam inserts need to be inserted into your zip cover. Our zip covers (Bouclé Cover, Teddy Covers, Arthur-Itis Cover, Jet Black Covers) are a replacement for the original grey cover and are not intended to be fitted over the grey cover.

Care Instructions

The Barney Bed cover unzips like a dream with the YKK zipper and is machine washable. The Herringbones Cover is made up of a wool blend and must be washed in cold water with a wool detergent and hang to dry in the shade. Wash with similar colours. Do not use bleach or any harsh chemicals. Do not wash the foam inserts, as they are already protected inside the water-resistant lining. Simply wipe them with a wet cloth and mild detergent. See our Washing & Care page for a video that shows how to remove and wash the covers, and reassemble the Barney Bed.

If your bed is placed on tiles or wooden flooring, we always recommend that you regularly clean and dry underneath the bed to prevent any condensation occurring. Your dog’s body heat on the cold floor can cause moisture if left for long periods of time. We recommend placing your Barney Bed on a rug to insulate it from the cold flooring.

Shipping

Barney Bed will deliver your item with tracking. Australia Post will leave your parcel at your nominated address only if the courier deems it a safe spot to do so. Australia Post will take your parcel back to the post office if there is not a safe spot to leave your parcel. If you do not wish for the courier to leave your parcel unattended, you must email us to inform us by emailing us once you place your order. Barney Bed will not be responsible for any missing parcels from your nominated address if there is proof of delivery it was delivered to the correct address. All our deliveries are carried out with a proof of delivery image and scan.

Returns & Exchanges

Please confirm you have the right size before purchasing, you can do this by checking the size tag on the inside of your Barney Bed cover. Returns can only be processed within 14 days of the purchase date. Please note, we only accept unused covers, covers with dog hair will not be accepted for a return. Warranty

We offer a 12-month warranty on covers against manufacturing defects only. This limited warranty applies to defects due to faulty workmanship or materials. It does not cover normal wear and tear or damages due to rough dog use, which includes but is not limited to; excessive scratching, biting, chewing, digging. Terrible quality cover, esp for the price!

Like some other reviews, I had difficulty with putting this cover back on the bed after following the wash instructions carefully. When I contacted customer support, with photos, showing shrinkage and it being so tight it was nearly splitting at the seams - i was simply told this was not fault of the product but the way i washed/cleaned it and all communication abruptly ended.

Least to say not the best customer experience, which is a shame cos my dog does love the bed. I guess i'll just buy a baby/single bed sheet from Kmart for a cover instead.

I am not happy with this cover as it has shrunk even though I was very careful to wash it in cold water and dry it on the line. It was very very hard to get on and once I finally did it was so tight that the sides of the bed curled up.

We had a look into this issue and can see that its 2 years out of its warranty date. Id be happy to help with any covers you may interested in if you would like to purchase a new one I highly recommend our Boucle or Golden Teddy covers are they are also zip covers and have fit so well on the bed. Your dog will love them!

My dogs love this bed. They love resting their heads on the bumpers or burying their nose against the inside edge of the bumpers. Wears well. Easy to change covers. Foam stays clean with waterproof covering that is easy to clean. Also looks stylish and modern suiting our coastal home.

I don’t think I would buy another one as I feel it was to small for the bed I purchased, it pulls and is an extremely tight fit , I’m worried when my dog lies on the bed cover it might pull on the seam stitches

Hi Jo-Anne! Your Herringbone Cover is designed to fit your Barney Bed perfectly. It sounds like it may not be getting fitted correctly! Are you fitting the Herringbone Cover overtop the original grey cover? You need to remove the original grey cover completely before fitting the Herringbone Cover. So all the foam pieces come out and get re-inserted into the new cover. I will email you with a video to help you out!
