The Barney Basics covers are affordable, practical and stylish!

We received a lot of requests for an affordable everyday cover range, so we created the Barney Basics Range. A range of slipcovers that are super functional, practical and stylish. They pop on and off your Barney Bed for easy washing, and they are more affordable than our 100% natural linen covers, so you can grab all five colourways. Available in ‘Chai’, ‘Mist’, ‘Charcoal’, 'Kiwi' and 'Kale'.

About the Barney Covers

Is the cover waterproof?

No, our covers are not waterproof as we designed them to be as comfy and soft as possible and waterproof materials are not often comfy to the touch. We have, however, designed the covers to be super easy to remove and wash whenever needed. We created the Waterproof lining Kit which you can fit over the interior of your Barney Bed- just like your own mattress protector, which will fully protect your Barney Bed from water/pee accidents.

Are there any other colors?

The Barney Bed is sold in its original grey cover. We have a wide range of covers available in lots of different colors and materials. We often release new covers, so stay tuned on our website and socials!

I already have a bed. Do you sell just the covers?

Yes! Please choose the same size cover as your Original Barney Bed. Our covers are specifically designed to only fit the Barney Bed. You can check your bed size on the tag inside your cover or if you have any questions about the bed size you ordered, please send an email to online@barneybed.com and we’ll be happy to look up your order.

I fit my zip cover on my bed, why doesn’t look fitted like the photos online?

This is because your original grey cover needs to be fully removed, and the memory foam inserts need to be inserted into your zip cover. Our zip covers (Bouclé Cover, Teddy Covers, Arthur-Itis Cover, Jet Black Covers) are a replacement for the original grey cover and are not intended to be fitted over the grey cover.

Care Instructions

Our Slip Covers are designed to fit on and off your Barney Bed super easily, which makes washing a breeze! To wash, simply take the cover off your Barney Bed and wash on a warm, gentle machine wash. Do not use bleach or any harsh chemicals. Wash with similar colours. Air dry your cover in the shade inside out. Do not tumble dry.

Although the Barney Basics Covers are strong, we do not recommend it for dogs that heavily scratch their bed. Barney Basics will withstand light scratching and nesting only. Heavy scratching may cause the fabric to pill.

Shipping

Shipping is free within Australia for orders over $250.* Orders under $250 will incur a shipping fee of $12.95. *XL and XXL beds are considered oversized items and will be shipped via courier. Shipping fees will apply, and they will calculate at checkout based on your location. We also offer low-rate international shipping, but please allow extra time for customs clearance. International shipping fees will calculate at checkout based on your location. Duties and taxes may apply upon arrival and are not covered by Barney Bed. All in stock items will be dispatched within 2 business days and typically arrive within 2-8 business days depending on your location.

Warranty

We offer a 12-month warranty on covers against manufacturing defects only. This warranty applies to defects due to faulty workmanship or materials. It does not cover normal wear and tear or damages due to rough dog use, which includes but is not limited to; excessive scratching, biting, chewing, digging. Barney Bed will not be responsible for any damages resulting from not following the care instructions. Please see Full Warranty Details on our FAQs page.

Returns & Exchanges

Returns must be requested within 14 days of the delivery date. The cover must be unused, free from dog hair and in brand-new condition to be eligible for a refund or exchange. Please see full Refund & Exchange details on our FAQs page.

Horrible quality; Obvious defect

I ordered six of these covers for my two XL beds and they've all failed in the same exact way... The seams in the corners are weak and rip just from my dog stepping in the right spot.

I contacted support but they weren't helpful at all; saying that because my dog caused the damage they wouldn't do anything about it. Of course my dog caused the damage... It's a dog bed... I'm not sleeping on it. The covers shouldn't rip as easy as they do.

Overall I was happy with my Barney Beds but I can no longer recommend them. They're useless if the cover keeps ripping.

Huge investment in a poorly made product. Stay away from the whole company.

While our products are designed for comfort and durability, they aren’t indestructible—dogs can chew through bones and wood, after all! They’re meant for sleeping rather than chewing.😊 I see our team has already reached out with a solution for you, and we’re happy to help!

Cool Cover

I don't know what material you use, but it is cool to touch, probably white wasn't the best choice for my adventure dog (however it does match my bedroom decor) and fortunately easy to wash.

My sister has had one for years and it hasn’t sagged at all and still looks brand new. LOVE THE COLOUR of the covers. The cover is thick and feels durable. Not a single stitch out of place. Love that there is anti slip on the bottom, perfect for floor boards

I think we went too big though.

Recommended size for a GSD is actually HUGE and we have no where to put this beautiful bed :( it’s on us though because there is so much info about sizing and measurements including an email to confirm after you complete purchase.
