About the Barney Covers
Is the cover waterproof?
No, our covers are not waterproof as we designed them to be as comfy and soft as possible and waterproof materials are not often comfy to the touch. We have, however, designed the covers to be super easy to remove and wash whenever needed. We created the Waterproof lining Kit which you can fit over the interior of your Barney Bed- just like your own mattress protector, which will fully protect your Barney Bed from water/pee accidents.
Are there any other colors?
The Barney Bed is sold in its original grey cover. We have a wide range of covers available in lots of different colors and materials. We often release new covers, so stay tuned on our website and socials!
I already have a bed. Do you sell just the covers?
Yes! Please choose the same size cover as your Original Barney Bed. Our covers are specifically designed to only fit the Barney Bed. You can check your bed size on the tag inside your cover or if you have any questions about the bed size you ordered, please send an email to online@barneybed.com and we’ll be happy to look up your order.
I fit my zip cover on my bed, why doesn’t look fitted like the photos online?
This is because your original grey cover needs to be fully removed, and the memory foam inserts need to be inserted into your zip cover. Our zip covers (Bouclé Cover, Teddy Covers, Arthur-Itis Cover, Jet Black Covers) are a replacement for the original grey cover and are not intended to be fitted over the grey cover.

The bed is good quality, My dog is not interested in it at all. I think he would be if the bolsters on the back and sides were higher. He prefers a “cave” feel where he typically lays down. For reference, he is a 12-year old German Shepherd.
Hi Julie, I’m sorry to hear your dog isn’t taking to their new bed 😔 I can see our team has already reached out to help, but I wanted to share a few extra tips that might make the transition easier.
Since the Barney Bed is designed to be extra supportive, it can take some time for dogs to adjust. One simple trick is using your scent to make the bed feel more familiar—try rubbing your hands over it or adding a worn t-shirt or blanket. Removing access to their old bed (or the couch) can also help encourage the switch.
You can also try washing the cover so it smells like the rest of your home.Adding a plushy blanket for extra softness can make a big difference too!

I have previously removed the front bolster for one of my dogs who was unwell, and put a blanket over the loose cover- but this works even better. My basset has a significant back problem affecting his back legs. He was unable to get his legs over the front bolster without help. This cover has made it much easier for him. Seems very comfortable for him. Just washing it though as my other dog vomited on it....
Pretty pricey though or I would buy a second for this kind of scenario. More colours would be great too.

I ordered this bed and cover in medium because my dog is 40kg, but we don’t have the floor space for the large size. Great solution! I still have my fingers crossed they’ll eventually make a bed between sizes M and L 🤞

Love the Arthur-itis cover. It’s great for my dachshund with IVDD who is struggling to get his legs over the sides and also great for my 12yr old staffy with old joins although he’s annoyed I took one of his sides off his bed which he uses as a pillow.

I really thought the boucle material of the Arthritis cover would be soft but it feels scratchy and as such my dog won’t use it. Expensive exercise.
